Many homeowners believe that their air conditioning unit is actually adding cold air to their home. In actuality, your air conditioner is not adding cold air, but rather removing hot air. Operating under this common misconception, homeowners will find themselves turning their thermostat down to drastically low temperatures trying to combat the heat. Turning the temperature to 60 degrees on a hot summer day does not cool your home any faster; the only “benefit” is that it cools your house beyond a reasonable degree, while simultaneously expending vast amounts of energy and money to reach that low temp.
